Toi Wāhine is a collaborative and supportive collective of Māori Women Artists that was started in Porirua (Wellington, New Zealand) by Taryn Beri, Sian Montgomery Neutze, Miriama Grace-Smith, Rangimarie Sophie Jolley, Xoe Hall, Pikihuia Haenga-Carkeek and Keri-Mei Zagrobelna. Toi Wāhine HQ is located at 10 Hartham Place, Porirua, Wellington, New Zealand.
The first Toi Wāhine exhibition opened in December 2015, ran for three weeks and was attended by hundreds. Since that initial opening exhibition, the Toi Wāhine Collective has hosted and been involved with six more big exhibitions/events, as well as running several community based art workshops and other special events.
Other guest artists that have become involved since the conception of Toi Wāhine HQ, have included Robyn Kahukiwa, Kohai Grace, Elaine Bevan, Julie Paama-Pengally, Evelyn Ross, Hayley Galo, Kaea Graham, Regan Balzer, Vianney Parata, Aria Whaanga, Natasha Keating, Briar Allen, Stevei Houkamau, Kui Topia, Paretapu Pentito-Waru, Lydia Wihapi, Maakarita Paku, Jo Haenga, Jess Potiki, Awhina Tamarapa, Pip Hartley, and Maxine Montgomery.
